For many, Halloween is the most anticipated day of fall. For us, costumed pets steal the spotlight — whose heart
doesn’t melt at the sight of a pug in a pirate costume?
Whether you’re celebrating by walking the streets as a family at dusk or staying indoors for a scary movie, this
spooky holiday is the perfect excuse for some pet-parent bonding time.
Here are several ways to include your four-legged family member in the Halloween festivities:
Host A Pet Pumpkin Carving Contest
Pumpkin carving is a classic Halloween activity. This year, let your fur babies participate! Invite fellow pet
parents over for a festive contest. Let your pups romp around and chew on Dry Roasted Chicken, Pumpkin & Cinnamon Strips while the
“hoomans” carve. Bonus points if the jack-o-lantern looks a bit furry!
For the cat parents: If your fur baby is feline, company might not be appreciated. Instead, make a jack-o-lantern out
of a large paper bag or cardboard box. We’ll be surprised if your cat doesn’t immediately find a way into the
jack-o-lantern. You can even place a surprise Dry Roasted Chicken, Pumpkin & Cinnamon Strip treat in the bag for them!
P.S. Did you know pumpkin is good for dogs and cats? It’s full of micronutrients and fiber that benefit your pet’s
gastrointestinal health.
Have A Spooky Photo Shoot
If you’ve been so lucky as to attend a Halloween pet parade, you know there’s nothing cuter than a fur baby in a
costume. This upcoming holiday, why not host a photo shoot of your own? Dress up your four-legged family member in
whatever cat or dog Halloween costume your heart desires — from a full body suit to a sleek pair of sunglasses.
Take plenty of pictures, reward them with a pawTreat® and share
your results. You’ll have a souvenir to cherish forever.
Pet parent tip: Not all pets respond well to being dressed up! Make sure your pet is comfortable and enjoying
themselves throughout the photo shoot.
Try A Furry Take On Trick Or Treat
Introduce this well-known tradition to your fur baby this year! If your pet is comfortable around other animals and "hoomans," they can go door-to-door with you and your family. Be mindful of other trick-or-treaters' comfort around
animals though.
You can also bring trick-or-treating to your home! We recommend baking homemade dog treats to give to your fur baby
and hosting a mini-training session. If they obey, they get a treat.
This Gourmet Baking Mix Gingerlicious Snaps with Ginger, Honey & Cinnamon is easy, tasty and 100%
pet-friendly. Both cats and dogs will drool over the treats.
You’ll also make the best friend of any neighborhood pets that come to your door!
Create A Quiet Cave
While Halloween is all fun and games for "hoomans," some pets can get stressed by the noise and commotion, especially if you have trick-or-treaters ringing your doorbell all night. On October 31st, create a quiet, safe space for your fur baby to retreat to if it gets too rambunctious.
One hour before the festivities begin, give your fur baby Chillax™ Calming Aid Soft Chews to relieve stress and tension. Then, put all their favorite toys, blankets and treats in a dark, quiet area. You can even play calming music or their favorite TV show to drown out the noise. If your pet is acting particularly stressed, offer them a Chillax to the Max™ CBD Bone to help them relax even more!
Scary Movie Night
Last but certainly not least, a scary movie night with your furry best friend is ideal bonding time. Cue up your
favorite creepy flick, prepare a few pawTreats® for you both and cozy up together on the couch! It’s a great way to get
some snuggles in on a chilly October night, and who can say no to cuddles with their favorite fur baby?
Whether you choose one big activity for Halloween or do them all throughout the month, the goal is to spend some
quality time with your fur baby and to do things that make you both happy! Your pet will love spending time with you
no matter what; the Gourmet Baking Mix Gingerlicious Snaps with Ginger, Honey & Cinnamon and funny dog costumes are just a bonus.
